About Chess

Why Chess?

Playing chess has proven to help students enhance their creativity, improve their power of concentration, develop and expand critical thinking skills, boost memory and retention, and achieve superior academic performance.

What are the Benefits of Chess for Kids?

Research has shown that there are lots of benefits of Chess

  • 1) Develops Logic, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. Chess exercises both sides of the brain.
  • 2) Increases Concentration & Memory.
  • 3) Develops Problem Solving Skills.
  • 4) Improves Reading Skills.
  • 5) Teaches Planning and Foresight.
  • 6) Engages the mind OFF of screens.
  • 7) Connects You with Others.

What is the right age to start Chess?

While some children will be ready to learn the game by age 4, the consensus among chess teachers seems to be that second grade -- meaning age 7 or 8 -- is the ideal time to start. But the earlier the better. According to child psychologists and researchers, the best age to learn chess is 5-6 years, when children start learning things at school. Some kids have the ability to grasp chess playing skills soon after they learn to speak. We even have students of age 4 who are learning ruthlessly.

What are the possible careers in the field of Chess?

A career as a chess player involves participating in ladder-structured tournaments with one-on-one competitions with other chess players on the classic game of chess. The work remains largely on a freelance basis, but some may actually choose to use their knowledge about the game of chess to get occupations in related fields. Many teach chess at schools and colleges, while others write for chess-related websites and blogs.

How much time will it take to be a master in Chess?

The answer is simple: it is how much time you dedicate to playing and learning chess. Now, if you are looking for a somewhat general answer, we can say 1-2 years of practicing can be enough to build a good foundation and consider yourself a chess player.
